Bio:
Wendy X. Ordóñez was born in Cali, Colombia in 1986. She has been attracted to color and painting since she was a little kid. She remembers during her childhood how the best give she could receive were markers, color pencils or anything she could use to create something colorful. In 1999, Wendy moved to Miami, Florida, along with her parents, sister, and little dog. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Art Education at Florida International University, under the direction of prominent artist and Professor David Y. Chang. After her Fall 2010 graduation Wendy plans to become a teacher/professor, pursue her MFA, and travel the world (traveling being her second passion after painting).

Artist’s Statement:
Wendy's paintings are meant to highlight the beauty of the world which many times goes unnoticed. Being aware of the global situation, her paintings do not depict suffering or tragedy, rather, she deliberately wants to have something beautiful as input to the world every time she paints. The artist is inspired by those paintings by David Y. Chang, Daniel E. Greene, Max Ginsburg, Qiang Huang, John Singer Sargent, Ilya Repin, and Carol Marine.
