Bio:
An artist since childhood, Tom Schek only recently began producing "finished" works of art. As a full time business professional, husband and father of five children, he slips out of bed well before dawn on a regular basis to pursue his passion for painting before what he calls the "coordinated chaos" of family life begins. Lives in Colorado.

Artist statement:
"In my paintings, my goal is to capture the mood of a place as much as the image of the place. I want a scene of a lone boat on shore in winter to create a feeling of quiet melancholy in the viewer. If I've handled it well, my rendering of a colorful sunrise over the Gulf of Mexico should produce a sense of awakening and optimism. For me, art is about emotion and the essence of places and people."
