Bio:
Kate has a BFA in Fine Arts. In college she majored in painting and photography. She has studied under Lorriane Minnetto and John Osborne. She has been involved in numerous juried exhibitions through out the United States where she has won two “Best in Shows”. Her work has been published in multiple publications. Kate Faust is an award-winning painter and photographer. Kate has exhibited work throughout New England and the Tri-State area. She is currently a member of Oil Painters of America, the Salmagundi Club of NYC, The Ridgewood Art Institute, the Southern Vermont Arts Association and the Professional Photography Association in Manhattan.

Artist statement:
I have two loves in my life; family and art. I worked in the publishing industry years ago and left the “rat race” to raise four daughters. Over time they have taught me many things, but most of all, my children have instilled in me a sense of calm. This inner peace has allowed me to reap the rewards that patience and understanding bring. My daughters have taught me to lay in a hammock on a beautiful, fall day and see within the trees subtle shapes and textures . . . simple things that I had most certainly taken for granted. It is through their eyes that I have learned to watch how light dances upon a wet flower or the way clouds amble across the sky. It is simple, pure objects that draw me to paint. I strive to capture these still moments with an overriding emphasis on light and shadow. My children have helped me to learn that it is not the outcome of the race that matters, but rather the effort expended and experience garnered during the journey itself.
